We used a mix of 3 stains from Sikkens to make theses Cedar doors pop!  They were water stained bad as the homeowner had water leaking from roof above, which water stained the doors.  We cleaned the doors and wood bleached the stains out to get an even finish.

Sikkens Door &Window /Satin Wood Tone finish was applied by lambs wool pads and Corona brushes.  Choosing the right look and finish for entrance doors, garage doors can really bring the look of the home together.  The front entrance door was taken off, hardeware removed and sanded before wiping down and appling the Sikkens Wood Finish.  This job was located in Wellesley Ma.

As a paint contractor for well over 30 years I often get asked about choosing paint colors for customers homes.  All the big painting company’s have color visual viewers on there websites but I prefer to use a color specialist.  One of the best I have been following lately is Donna Frasca from www.colorspecialist-charlotte.blogspot.com check out her blog and suggestions for interior and exterior paint colors.  The photos below are a example of a customers house from my portfolio who was very unsure of what yellow to use for her home along with a popping accent color.  As you can see she made the right choice!

OK here we go again another green paint product that  its supposed to be just like oil but has all the benefits of a latex.  Soap and water cleanup although a quick thinner rinse to your sprayer and brushes I recommend.  We have both brushed and sprayed this product which is in, Sherwin Williams Pro Classic line of high quality paints for contractors and homeowners.

How did it perform well it sure does dry funny that’s for sure and we were using a slate grey color so how it would be in a white color would be even more difficult to see runs and sags because of the way it dries.  It did cover very good over an existing color and the finish was nice but the semi gloss is really like a satin. Sherwin Williams sheens are always on the lower end unless it’s the Promar 200 eggshell finish which we find very shiny.

All in all we will use the Pro Classic Hybrid oil/latex paint again but for real; in depth review checkout Mike Pope from Woodland Painting.

Benjamin Moore AURA paints and Zar wood stains Red Oak finish.  Neutral colors in living areas  a little bolder color for accent wall in TV room and we used the red oak stain on counters to go with the other accents.  Benjamin Moore AURA colors really pop!
